What is Art Deco?
During the period between the two World Wars, an eclectic design style developed that later became known as Art Deco. The name was derived from the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs Industriels et Modernes, held in Paris, which celebrated living in the modern world. The term “Art Deco” is now used to refer to a mix of styles from the 1920s, 30s and the early 40s.
Today, Miami Beach is one of the best destinations for seeing the original architecture and expressions from this important design period. The art of this period reveal a varied mix of forms. However, most share the hallmarks of geometry and simplicity, often combined with vibrant colors and simple shapes that celebrate the rise of commerce and technology. From luxurious objects made from exotic materials to mass produced, streamlined items available to a growing middle class, the world of Art Deco represents a "graciousness of form" from a simpler time.
Where in Miami Beach are you located?
The Ocean Surf is situated along 74th street right next to the ocean. This area is a haven of historical architecture and art as well as quaint, eclectic eateries and shops. Although it’s just a few miles from the bustling excitement of South Beach, the North Beach area provides a more calming and relaxing scene to indulge in the finer points of Miami Beach, making it perfect for family vacations, romantic getaways and business travel.
Are you on the beach?
The Ocean Surf is a beachfront hotel, located directly across from the Atlantic Ocean on North Beach’s Ocean Terrace. This area is a two-block long historic oceanfront thoroughfare, located one block east of Collins Avenue (A1A), which provides our guests access to the hotel. The sand is approximately 100 feet from our front step.
How far is South Beach?
South Beach and the historic Art Deco District are located approximately 5 miles south of our location. The approximate driving time is 7 - 10 minutes.

Can I get around without a car?
We are located one street from most of the Miami-Dade Transit bus routes on Miami Beach. Bus fare is $1.25. Taxis are readily available. Several bus shuttles are available for the major shopping malls. And, should you want to explore on your own, our Front Desk representatives will be more than happy to arrange rental cars for you upon your arrival.

What are your Reservation Policies?
Reservations are accepted on a "Guaranteed" basis only. A Credit Card is required at the time of booking the Reservation and a one night room and tax deposit is charged at this time.
What is your Cancellation Policy?
On any reservations booked directly with the Ocean Surf Hotel, our Cancellation Policy requires that we receive notification of any changes or cancellations before 3:00 p.m. two days prior to the scheduled Check-In date. For bookings through agents or travel websites, please refer to their specific terms.
What if I do not cancel before the Cancellation Deadline or fail to claim my reservation on the scheduled Check-In Date?
A penalty charge of one night's room and tax will be charged to all Late Cancellations or if you fail to claim your reservation on the scheduled Check-In date.
What are your Check-In and Check-Out Times?
Check-In Time is 3:00 p.m. and our Check-Out Time is 11:00 a.m. If a room is ready after 12:00 p.m. a courtesy early check-in may be available but can not be guaranteed.
What if I need to check in before the posted Check-In Time or check out after the posted Check-Out Time?
If our Check-In Time or Check-Out Time does not coincide with your travel itinerary, Early Check-Ins and Late Check-Outs may be available upon request for a fee.

How many people can stay in one room?
Our rooms with one queen bed accommodate 2 people with a maximum occupancy of 4 people with a roll away bed. Rooms with two double beds have a maximum occupancy of 4 people.
Are rollaway beds available?
Rollaway beds are available upon request for rooms with one queen size bed. There is a daily charge of $10 per day, plus 7% tax.
Are baby cribs available?
Baby cribs are available upon request. There is no charge for baby cribs.
What restaurants are available to me while staying in your hotel?
There are several restaurants within walking distance offering a wide variety of tastes. Italian, Chinese, Latin, Mexican, Kosher, Deli, Burgers and Sandwiches are just the beginning. Fine dining on South Beach includes Emeril's, The Blue Door, Nobu, world-famous Joe's Stone Crab, and Smith and Wollensky.
What are some of the things I can do while visiting your area?
The crystal-blue waters and white sandy beaches of the Atlantic are mere steps away. And the cafes, shops and nightclubs of world-famous South Beach are not much further. The Ocean Surf enjoys an ideal location near all the best of South Florida including Downtown Miami, Coconut Grove, and Fort Lauderdale.
Where do I park my car?
We have ample parking for our guests in City of Miami Beach parking facilities. Parking is available either on the street directly in front of the hotel or in a Municipal Parking Lot approximately 100 feet from the hotel entrance. All parking spaces are metered parking and are enforced by the City of Miami Beach seven days a week, from 8:00am to 6:00pm. The meter fees are $0.25 for 15 minutes, $0.10 for 6 minutes, and $0.05 for 3 minutes.
For our Guest's convenience we participate in the City of Miami Beach's Hotel Guest Hang-Tag Program. Hang Tags can be purchased from our Front Desk, at our cost from the City of Miami Beach, for $6.42. The Parking Passes are valid from 12:00pm on the date of issue until 12:00pm the following day. Parking Passes are valid in designated locations in the North Beach area, including the on-street parking spaces directly in front of the hotel and in the Municipal Parking Lot mentioned above.
